Ox offers a complete suite of content management services for legacy data migration, standardization, UNSPSC coding and enrichment. Our team of product content professionals creates our leadership in this area. Ox employs technical engineers and data specialists with commodity expertise across verticals, as well as product experts who classify, normalize and enhance customer data in the context of a standardized classification schema. Data can be supplied from a variety of sources - including ERP, bills of material, and procurement data. Ox professionals extract, interpret, and translate text-based legacy information and define the component data into part classes and subclasses, assigning specific part attributes and values accordingly.
Ox provides customers and partners with access to a variety of solutions and service offerings as described below: Content Normalization Ox has pioneered content normalization processes to convert unstructured catalog data into a structured database format and standardized nomenclature. Content normalization provides a foundation for publishing electronic product content and enhancing content for improved searchability. Content Enhancement Once content has been normalized, Ox converts thousands of catalog SKUs into information-rich electronic content which is consistently structured and most importantly, searchable and transactable. Ox achieves this objective by classifying products into a consistent schema and then effectively parsing attributes into commodity defined attribute templates. Ox structured content enables parametric search capabilities and supports procurement software and search applications. While each enterprise has unique requirements, Ox can support a wide range of formats including XML, Quark, HTML and PDF. Maintenance Once catalog content has been normalized and enhanced, the ongoing management task of catalog product updates, pricing changes and new platform deployment can be daunting. Ox provides 24x7 support and maintains item descriptions, availability, price updates and any product additions or deletions. Screw Shooter Example High quality electronic catalog content must allow the user to search for and locate products that meet their specific requirements. A high quality stock keeping unit ("SKU") is created by determining the defining attribute categories for a group of products (i.e., "Voltage" or "Manufacturer"), and then assigning the product attributes to the correct attribute categories for each specific product (i.e., "the screw shooter's voltage is 120" or "Milwaukee manufactures the screw shooter"). High-quality content allows for frequent updates in price, availability, new features and increasingly, multi-language, multi-currency capabilities. The creation of a high quality catalog also requires aggregating product information into a single database format that allows the aggregated data to be pushed out into a variety of different formats, including HTML or XML. ![]() Click the thumbnail for a larger view. © 2002, Ox International, Inc. |
